White-faced capuchin

Capuchins are curious and habituated to people in busy parks, which makes them easy to see and easy to spoil. Feeding them — deliberately or by leaving bags open — causes aggression, tooth decay and disease transmission.

Where to look

  • Coastal forest
  • Dry forest
  • Mangroves
  • National park trails

When

Year-round.

Watching it ethically

  • Never feed monkeys. It is illegal and harmful.
  • Keep food sealed and bags zipped on park trails.
